This week on Season 17 of The Voice, the Battles wrapped up and the Knockouts began, with Mega Mentor Taylor Swift. The superstar joined coaches Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, Blake Shelton, and Gwen Stefani in helping the artists prepare for their performances.

The singers gave some great performances, and there were even a couple of steals. Check out the Battles and Knockouts below, and find out who went home and who will be going to the live shows.

‘The Voice’ Battles Wrap Up

Caroline Reilly vs. Jake HaldenVang (Team Gwen)

Gwen said she put these two together because they’re the “rockers” on her team. They performed “Just Like a Pill” by Pink. Will.i.am said he would record Jake’s album whether or not he wins. Kelly told them after the performance that it’s a “hard song to cover.” Gwen chose Jake as the battle winner.

Preston C. Howell vs. Mendeleyev (Team John)

Both of these singers have deep voices that mesh well together. John assigned them “Fire and Rain” by James Taylor. Usher told John he made it hard for himself, because they’re both “rock stars.” Mendeleyev performed with his guitar during the battle, and John praised his tone. However, he chose Preston as the winner, saying he has “more range.”

Hello Sunday vs. Lauren Hall (Team Kelly)

Kelly pitted this teenage duo against a 25-year-old solo singer. They performed “Wrecking Ball” by Miley Cyrus. John told Hello Sunday he would love for his daughter to see them sing. Kelly said they weren’t as technically impressive as Lauren, but they still gave a great performance. Kelly chose Hello Sunday, while Blake stole Lauren.

‘The Voice’ Knockouts Start With Taylor Swift

Marina Chello vs. Cali Wilson (Team Blake)

Cali chose to sing “Wicked Game” by Chris Isaak, which she says she enjoyed as a teenager. Marina opted for “I (Who Have Nothing)” by Tom Jones in honor of her father. Blake said both singers deserve to be on the show (and on the radio). He complimented Cali on the emotion in her performance, and chose her as the winner.

Melinda Rodriguez vs. Jake Hoot (Team Kelly)

Jake chose to sing “Cover Me Up” by Jake Isbell, inspired by his divorce experience. Melinda picked “Always Be My Baby” by Mariah Carey, in honor of her brother. Kelly said Melinda “nailed it,” but she chose Jake as the winner of the knockout, saying he’s “one of the best country singers” ever on the show.

Max Boyle vs. Katie Kadan (Team John)

Katie chose to sing “Piece of My Heart” by Janis Joplin, inspired by her experience being bullied. Max picked “When the Party’s Over” by Billie Eilish, saying that he’s “trying to move on from a relationship.” Kelly said they both chose great songs, although she admitted it was hard to follow Katie. John chose Katie as the winner. Kelly and Gwen both hit their buttons to steal Max. He chose to join Team Kelly.

Khalea Lynee vs. James Violet (Team John)

James chose to sing “Stay” by Post Malone, while Khalea picked “Because You Loved Me” by Celine Dion (which she sang in honor of her late mother). Kelly praised Khalea for making the song “sound easy to sing.” Blake said he was “surprised” by James’ performance. John said James “nailed it,” while he compared Khalea to Whitney Houston. He chose Khalea as the winner.

Jessie Lawrence vs. Kyndal Inskeep (Team Gwen)

Jessie chose to sing “Dancing With a Stranger” by Sam Smith and Normani. Kyndal picked “Elastic Heart” by Sia, which Gwen said Sia sent to her to possibly sing. Kelly advised Kyndal not to sing songs by artists who sound similar to her. Gwen said it was a tough decision, but she chose Kyndal as the winner.

Joana Martinez vs. Ricky Duran (Team Blake)

Joana chose to sing “California Dreamin'” by the Mamas and the Papas. Ricky performed “She Talks to Angels” by the Black Crowes, which is his girlfriend’s favorite song. Kelly praised them for choosing songs that highlight their strengths as artists. Ultimately, Blake chose Ricky as the winner, while Gwen hit her button to steal Joana.
